So last night we returned from Hawaii. It was a really fun trip! We went to Oahu for 3 days and Maui for 4, tried to follow as much of the Eaton-Kelly's advice as possible, and got to go swimming, snorkeling and surfing. And we ate really good sushi, yum!
Today I hung out with David, which was fun as always, and now I am baking fig cookies (will they be good??) and preparing a presentation for work (scary! but only 10 minutes and with all the other undergrads). Current Mood:

So today was the last day of the SURP seminar! Finally, I don't have to spend Thursday afternoons in a room full of nerds listening to boring presentations. Until next summer... maybe. After work, I hung out with Bejan. Poor guy, his car broke down and I picked him up from the autobody shop! But it was really fun and good to see him.

So today I spent a whole HOUR driving from Bothell to Kenmore!! There was an accident right by the park and ride in Kenmore, but i don't think anyone was hurt, although i don't really know. Then I caught the bus at 372 (it had been stuck behind me in traffic that whole time!) and David from work was on it, and then we hit more traffic at 155 because there had been a fire, but that wasn't too bad, and then the standard traffic up by Northgate Way from construction. Apparently there had also been a big accident on Lake City Way a little earlier, but since the bus took so long to get to Kenmore it was cleared by the time we got there. I feel bad for David, who ended up spending like 3 hours commuting, and the bus driver, she looked very tired! And most of all for all the people in accidents, poor people.
Anyway, after finally getting to work (we missed a seminar with a professor visiting from a Japanese university, i don't remember which one), i had a good day there so that's good. Then went to Abe's and ate a turkey burger, yum! (2 comments | comment) 1st June 2004

Okay so I bought these shoes, low heeled pumps, and they have REALLY pointy toes. Like I threatened to kick my brother while wearing them and he ran away screaming like a girl. Well... he sorta does that a lot, but that's not the point. The point is that my brother said they looked like elf shoes, and my mom laughed for five minutes. : (

: I can't sleep
Okay so once a while ago I went to some guy's site and he had posted every single essay he had written for IB. It was really lame, especially because his essays sucked really bad. But anyway, for better or worse, I am going to post summaries of some essays I have written. I will begin with the crown jewel of my essay writing career (in terms of quantity, not quality) my IB extended essay. At 3998 (I think) words it was the longest I have written to date. Here is an abridged version: Title: How did we get those white bastards in South Africa to give up power? Through divestment, disinvestment and economic sanctions. Yay wasn't that glorious? But some lame guy in Peru who graded it only gave me a B. He obviously doesn't recognize greatness. (comment) 16th April 2003

Guess what I drove a stick today for the very first time ever in all of eternity. Except I didn't really drive it... because Peter shifted for me and all. It was also very difficult because I was too short and it was hard to push the clutch in all the way (Donald agreed). Donald and Clay were better than me but they had both driven manuals before. Also I played Mancala with this guy that hugged Donald and I won it was very exciting.

Last night I watched Dogtown and Z-Boys with David. This morning I watched it again with my brother. Then I ate some bread and butter. Now I'm home alone, hanging out with my dog, except we're in opposite corners of the house. That's my life.

after semi-trying for so long to emulate my livejournal idol Colin Marshall, I've realized I'm a failure. So... in the future I'll be posting lame (but in a way, not so lame) entries about my super interesting life. Or maybe just when I'm really bored.

After two days of looking for beauty in things, I have come to realize that the world is an ugly place. Jordan decided to challenge my latest endeavour (being the evil cynicist that he is) and sent me to uglypeople.com to find the beauty in some of the ugliest faces on the planet. To make a long story short, I couldn't. I've come to the conclusion that not everything has an aspect of beauty. On the contrary, everything does indeed have a shade of ugliness. Like flowers. They look pretty, but... they die. So, anyway, hopefully we can all come to realize that even pretty stuff has ugliness in its core.

As I rode down Aurora, my head bouncing around and thus restricting my ability to sleep, I was suddenly brought out of my half-awake stupor by the beauty of a playful beam of light shining through the finger-printed bus window. It struck me so because it seemed so out of place, this gorgeous ray of precious purity in the dullness of an old metro bus. But this one little ray of light incited a train of miniscule revelations, the chief one being... the amazing ability of the human psyche to find extraordinary beauty in the most ordinary of things. Therefore, I have made it a personal goal to find beauty in everything I see and do, and I hope everyone else will attempt the same effort. I truly believe that if this can be achieved, the world will be better for all.

We deftly manuevered the pitch black of night
when something appeared in the edge of our sight. A pile of treasure with signs saying "free" was discovered with joy by Jordan and me. Bottles and gadgets and flowers and glass, Machines made solely for toning one's ass. All this and more laid out for the taking, what was to be ours we began staking After carefully choosing an item or two we headed to Jilli's with a bright balloon. We set up our gifts at the mailbox with care Hoping she'd be able to find them there Then off once again to Canyon Park to see what was open late in the dark But all was closed at that late time And so I went back to that house of mine. : They forgot to write: "I heart Jesus!"
![]() While I was sitting in the pew at the Aurora Church of the Nazarene, listening to the Cascade Youth Symphony and watching Neil make insanely funny faces as he bobbed his violin and raised his eyebrows at the really intense parts, I noticed that the bible in the pocket in front of me had graffiti. It stated: "Jesus is Lord! And he loves you." Now I have never personally chatted with Jesus, but I've read about him and heard a few things, and although I'm sure he's fine with spreading the message, I don't think he'd want his any of his sheep destroying the Holy Book to do so. ![]() Then again, maybe I shouldn't assume things. I could just go talk to Jesus... after all, he does work at McDonald's with Sebastian and Tristan. (comment) 16th June 2002
